Science exists everywhere— in our daily lives, in conversation, in thought. STEM Beyond Seas hopes to integrate science into all aspects of youth— through writing, environmental writing and equity.
Our Mission:
STEM Beyond Seas exists to make science borderless. “Beyond Seas” reflects our mission to connect environmental science, policy, economics, and writing, creating a future where scientific knowledge is accessible and shaped by everyone, everywhere.
Making science accessible. Through our 102-page digital environmental science e-magazine, we bring research, environmental issues, and scientific perspectives to students across borders—beyond traditional classrooms and networks.
Expanding participation. We work to break down barriers to complex scientific ideas, enabling students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to engage with science and its wider impact on society.
Building sustainable impact. Through our advisory team, we support 30 youth-led organisations with financial planning, strategy, and long-term development, helping turn ideas into lasting action.
Connecting science through writing. We use accessible stories, articles, and publications to translate complex research across disciplines, reach new audiences, and connect science with the communities it serves.

"Joining STEM Beyond Seas has honestly been an incredible opportunity to turn my passion for science into something meaningful. As a writer for SBS, my role involves researching, writing, and submitting monthly articles on diverse science themes which turns complex STEM concepts into engaging pieces for our audience.
What I enjoy most about being part of SBS is the supportive and collaborative community. Beyond the creative freedom to explore new topics each month, it has given me the chance to connect with like-minded peers who share the same passion for STEM!"

"Hi there! My name is Sengsavanh Somsana, but feel free to call me Milo. I’m a Grade 11 student from Laos who has a strong passion for STEM fields and willing to share my experience with others. I have joined STEM Beyond the Sea as a writer since the end of July and wrote an article under the theme of “Exploring Invisible World”. One of many things that I enjoyed the most about volunteering here is that it allows me to explore and learn more about STEM topics—something that I don’t usually get to learn at school—along with expressing my knowledge and passion to others in the STEM community, which help me broaden my horizons."

"Hi! My name is Rawan Abdelqader, a Palestinian high school student living in New York and the Director of Social Media and Publicity at STEM Beyond Seas. Serving as a Project Lead for our summer magazine—managing formatting, publicity, and marketing—showed me the power of student-led teamwork. I have a deep passion for teaching others and making complex science simple, and I love being part of a movement that acts as a gateway to empowering the next generation to change our future."
Rawan Abdelqader, Director of Social Media, STEM Beyond Seas, New York

"Hello! My name is Mia and I've been an editor at SBS for almost 9 months now. I've had a lot of fun editing articles, which helped me expand my vocabulary and even learn so many different things! The articles are always so interesting and everyone is easy to interact with, I'm glad I joined when I did."
